Elk Valley Resources (EVR) seeks a certified welder to join our maintenance team at Sparwood. The full-time role features a 4x4 schedule with days and nights and requires welding and fabrication of heavy mining equipment in an industrial setting.

As a Red Seal Welder, you will inspect, repair, and fabricate site structures and equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and collaborate with trades. We offer competitive compensation and extensive benefits within a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Welder certification required.
• Valid driver’s license required.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• B Pressure welding ticket is an asset.
• Previous mining experience is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies.
• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and fabricate site structures and equipment.
• Grind, gouge and repair cracks in haul truck bodies, shovel buckets, dozer blades, and other mining equipment.
• Conduct inspections on mining equipment and structures and perform preventative maintenance as needed.
• Use welding processes: FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW.
• Work cohesively with other tradespeople.
• Provide innovative solutions and best practices.

About the role:

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, Welders are responsible for repairing and maintaining site structures and equipment in a shop or field environment. This is a full-time hourly position that offers an attractive 4x4 schedule consisting of days and nights.

The position is site-based at our operations in the Elk Valley, and the ability to reliably commute to or relocate near Sparwood, B.C is necessary.

In this role you will:

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and fabricate site structures and equipment in all areas of active mining, mine maintenance, and processing
• Grind, gouge and repair cracks in haul truck bodies, shovel buckets, dozer blades, and other mining equipment
• Conduct inspections on mining equipment and structures and perform preventative maintenance as needed
• Use the following welding processes: FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW
• Work cohesively with other tradespeople
• Provide innovative solutions and best practices

Requirements:

• Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Welder Certification
• Valid driver’s license
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• B Pressure welding ticket would be considered an asset
• Previous mining experience is an asset

Salary Range: $132,000 - $134,000 CAD / Year

Base earnings reflected in salary range includes the hourly wage plus applicable shift premiums and will differ depending on location. It is calculated using a reasonably expected number of hours worked per year.

This position involves welding and fabricating heavy mining equipment and structures in an industrial environment. If you're a Red Seal Welder, Journeyperson Welder, or CWB Certified Welder with experience in structural welding and heavy equipment repair, we encourage you to apply.
