Elk Valley Resources is seeking a certified welder to support site maintenance and fabrication in a heavy mining environment. The role operates on a 4x4 days/nights schedule at our Elk Valley operation, with requirement to commute to Sparwood, BC or relocate nearby.

Responsibilities include welding and fabricating site structures, inspecting equipment, and performing preventative maintenance using multiple welding processes. Red Seal certification is essential.

Qualifications

• Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Welder Certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• B Pressure welding ticket would be considered an asset.
• Previous mining experience is an asset.

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs.
• Maintain and fabricate site structures and equipment in mining environments.
• Grind, gouge and repair cracks on haul trucks, shovels, dozer blades and equipment.
• Inspect equipment and perform preventative maintenance.

• Collaborate with other trades and provide innovative solutions.

About the role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, Welders are responsible for repairing and maintaining site structures and equipment in a shop or field environment. This is a full-time hourly position that offers an attractive 4x4 schedule consisting of days and nights. The position is site-based at our operations in the Elk Valley, and the ability to reliably commute to or relocate near Sparwood, B.C is necessary.

In this role you will

• Participate in and adhere to health and safety programs and policies
• Maintain, troubleshoot, repair and fabricate site structures and equipment in all areas of active mining, mine maintenance, and processing
• Grind, gouge and repair cracks in haul truck bodies, shovel buckets, dozer blades, and other mining equipment
• Conduct inspections on mining equipment and structures and perform preventative maintenance as needed
• Use the following welding processes: FCAW, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW
• Work cohesively with other tradespeople
• Provide innovative solutions and best practices

Salary Range: $132,000 - $134,000 CAD / Year. Base earnings reflected in salary range includes the hourly wage plus applicable shift premiums and will differ depending on location. It is calculated using a reasonably expected number of hours worked per year.

This position involves welding and fabricating heavy mining equipment and structures in an industrial environment. If you're a Red Seal Welder, Journeyperson Welder, or CWB Certified Welder with experience in structural welding and heavy equipment repair, we encourage you to apply.
