Elk Valley Resources (EVR) is a Canadian steelmaking coal producer and part of the Glencore Group, operating in the Elk Valley of British Columbia. The Crane Operator role reports to Maintenance and involves safe operation of cranes in an open-pit mine, relocating equipment and materials on a permanent 4x4 day shift.

Eligible candidates will hold a Red Seal Mobile Crane certification and a valid driver’s license; relocation assistance and competitive benefits support a balanced professional

Qualifications

• Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Mobile Crane Operator Certification.
• Preference for Mobile Crane Operator Hydraulic 300 ton and Under Certificate.
• Applicant should have a Class 5 Driver’s Licence; Class 3 or 1 is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Be a courageous safety leader and follow safety/environmental rules.
• Set up crane for lifting, mobilize, stabilize, and draft lift plans.
• Operate cranes up to 300 tons to lift and move equipment/materials.
• Perform rigging for various tasks to complete jobs.
• Carry out routine crane maintenance such as cleaning and lubrication.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Maintenance, the Crane Operator is responsible for safely operating the Crane to provide operational support in an open pit coal mine by relocating and repositioning equipment and materials. The position is site-based at our operations in the Elk Valley, and the ability to reliably commute to or relocate near Sparwood, B.C is necessary.

In this role you will:

• Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
• Setup crane for lifting including mobilizing and stabilizing, calculating crane capacities, determining load weights and drafting lift plans
• Operate conventional and hydraulic mobile Cranes, up to 300 ton, to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials
• Ability to perform various types of rigging to efficiently complete minor to complex jobs
• Perform routine maintenance work, such as cleaning and lubricating cranes

Requirements:

• Valid Interprovincial Red Seal Mobile Crane Operator Certification
• Preference will be given to applicants holding a Mobile Crane Operator Hydraulic 300 ton and Under Certificate
• Applicants require a Class 5 Driver’s License, Class 3 or Class 1 Drivers License would be considered an asset

Hourly Wage: $53.78
