Job summary

Argus is seeking a skilled Weiler Machinist to operate our E-series Production Lathe and ensure parts are finished to exact specifications. You will work with a team to complete and ship orders on time, interpreting production orders and maintaining quality standards in a safe environment.

Responsibilities include setup, operation, program adjustments during runs, and precise measurement. The role requires adherence to Lean principles, continuous improvement, and strong attention to safety

Qualifications

• Experience operating a conversational Weiler lathe.
• Journeyman Machinist ticket is an asset.
• Knowledge of oil and gas industry products and services.
• Understanding of safe work practices, QA, and Lean principles.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and monitor the machine in a diligent and efficient manner.
• Fix programs during production runs as required and use measuring tools.
• Interpret production orders and manufacture parts to customer specifications.
• Use overhead cranes and pallet jacks to move materials safely within the plant.
• Plan and prioritize workload to meet deadlines and allocate resources.
• Document work performed and route documentation to the appropriate location.

Job description

Reporting to the Plant Supervisor, the Weiler Machinist safely and efficiently operates a Weiler E-series Production Lathe (control type Siemens 840D), finishes products accurately, and works effectively with team members to complete and ship orders on time.

Accountabilities

Role accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

• Set up, operate, and monitor machine in a responsible, diligent, and efficient manner. Fix programs during production runs as required. Use measuring tools, gauges, and controls as required.
• Carry out work order instructions to program machine to customer specifications. Manufacture routine, complex, and non-routine parts from raw materials.
• Interpret production order information, including part descriptions, material grade, documents, and drawings.
• Use overhead cranes and pallet jacks to safely maneuver raw material/ finished product within the manufacturing plant.
• Plans and prioritizes workload to complete work orders within deadlines, utilizing appropriate resources for each job.
• Completes product documentation for work carried out. Routes the product and related documentation to the appropriate location once completed.

Position Qualifications and Experience

• Experience running a conversational Weiler lathe.
• Journeyman Machinist ticket considered an asset.
• General knowledge of products and services in relation to the oil and gas industry.
• General understanding of safe work practices, quality assurance requirements, and continuous improvement (Lean Manufacturing) principles.
