Job summary

Strides Toronto is seeking a Weekend Manager for the CREST Live-In Treatment program in Scarborough, ON. This part-time role provides supervision, administrative support, and oversight of Live-In Treatment staff to ensure program efficacy and adherence to standards.

Weekly hours include some weekdays for team meetings, with focus on safety, compliance, and quality service for youth and families in a 24/7 program. Minimum supervision experience required.

Qualifications

  • Child and Youth Diploma or Child and Youth Work degree required.
  • Professional registration with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care.
  • Minimum 5 years as a Child and Youth Worker or related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years Supervisory experience.
  • Experience with hard-to-serve youth or shelter program.
  • IDEA awareness in the workplace and health contexts.
  • Understanding anti-black racism and anti-oppressive perspectives.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to a live-in treatment team of Child and Youth Care Practitioners, Peer Support Workers, and Integrated Care Coordinators, in adherence to established standards.
  • Collaborate with Day Treatment/Live-In Treatment Managers to support efficient house operations.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide timely training and feedback.
  • Ensure staffing meets program, licensing and accreditation requirements for 24/7 services.
  • Complete all administrative requirements related to program operations.
  • Maintain Live-in Treatment milieu services per relevant legislation and accreditation standards.
  • Ensure safety and well-being through OHSA and organizational policies.

Strides Toronto Support Services (“Strides Toronto”) Strides Toronto is a multi-service agency supporting infants, children, youth and young adults from birth to age 29, and their families, primarily across east Toronto. We offer community-based, residential and treatment programs—including mental health counselling, autism services, early intervention, day treatment, education, outreach and community support—using a client-centered, evidence-informed approach. Since 2015, Strides Toronto has served as Toronto’s Lead Agency for Infant, Child and Youth Mental Health, partnering with 21 core service providers to provide system leadership, citywide planning, coordinated service delivery and program alignment. Strides Toronto also leads initiatives with broader reach, including Help Ahead and the HOPE Strategy across Toronto and One Stop Talk / Parlons Maintenant and the Provincial Youth Outreach Worker Program across Ontario.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is an existing vacancy for one (1) part-time permanent Weekend Manager, CREST Live-In Treatment (LIT) The Weekend Manager, CREST LIT provides supervision, administrative support, and oversight to the Community Response to Exploitation and Sex Trafficking (CREST) Live in Treatment employees and program to ensure treatment program efficacy, adherence to best practices and legislative standards for client care. The Weekend Manager, CREST LIT assumes responsibilities for the physical maintenance of the residence in partnership with the Manager of Day Treatment/Live-in Treatment Services.

Some weekday hours will be required to attend team meetings.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Provide guidance and support to a live-in treatment team of Child and Youth Care Practitioners, Peer Support Workers, and Integrated Care Coordinators, in adherence to established legislative/ accredited service standards, ensuring delivery of high-quality evidence-based/evidence-informed services.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Day Treatment/Live-In Treatment Managers to support the efficient and seamless operation of the house
  • Monitor employee performance and ensure appropriate training and feedback are provided in a timely way for the benefit of the employees and program operations.
  • Ensure staffing consistently meets program, licensing and accreditation requirements for the successful delivery of high-quality anti-human trafficking and mental health services in a live in treatment program operating 24 hours/day and 365 days/year.
  • Ensure all administrative requirements related to program operations are completed in a timely, accurate and effective manner.
  • Maintain and build upon the Live in Treatment milieu services to ensure that services are provided in accordance with relevant legislation/ accreditation standards/ college requirements/ Ministry expectation and the organization’s clinical standards.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of employees and clients of the Live-in Treatment program through adherence to the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Ministry and organizational policies and procedures.
THE “MUST HAVES”

The following education, professional memberships and knowledge are a requirement for this role:

  • Child and Youth Diploma or Child and Youth Work degree
  • Professional registration with the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Care
  • Minimum 5 years as a Child and Youth Worker or related experience.
  • Minimum 2 years Supervisory experience.
  • Experience specializing with hard to serve youth and/or experience working in a shelter program.
  • Awareness of the role of inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility (IDEA) in the workplace and within the community being served by the position.
  • An understanding of anti-black racism, anti-oppressive/anti-racism perspective in the context of the social determinants of health.
  • Ability to recognize and identify situations where incidents of imbalance of power and privilege may occur and can result in possible negative impacts.
THE ‘NICE TO HAVES’

While not required, preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Functional computer and client information system knowledge.
  • Fluency in another language(s), including sign language.
