Job summary

CBC/Radio-Canada is seeking a Senior Producer for Live & Daily News, Weekend Audio. The role focuses on live and breaking national and international news for hourly radio news and podcasts, requiring audience-first storytelling and editorial leadership across platforms.

The successful candidate will lead daily editorial meetings, coordinate with teams, and shape stories with strong pacing and treatments while maintaining CBC’s journalistic standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum seven years in broadcast journalism with degree in journalism, audio production or related field.
• Proven experience producing live and breaking news programming, including production planning and resource coordination.
• Mandatory experience taking programs to air with strong audio production skills (iNews, Dalet, Avid, etc.).
• Sharp news judgment, ability to verify and fact-check content under pressure.
• Broad knowledge across politics, business, science, sports, entertainment and health.

Responsibilities

• Determine story priorities and guide teams through live, breaking, and ongoing coverage.
• Develop and practice a culture of embracing breaking news with a focus on audience needs and strategy across platforms.
• Exercise editorial responsibility over daily production and live broadcasting; coordinate resources and pacing.
• Lead newsroom transitions and act as a change agent to improve structures and teamwork.
• Facilitate inclusive story meetings and collaborate across CBC News platforms to coordinate content.
• Mentor staff and provide ongoing feedback; align team with senior leadership on staffing and culture.
• Translate insights to guide content decisions to grow audience and engagement.
• Uphold CBC Journalistic Standards and Practices at all times.
• Step in to perform functions of equivalent or lower classifications when needed.
