CBC News in Toronto is seeking a Senior Producer, Live & Daily News, Weekend Late Audio, to lead weekend live and daily programming for Your World Tonight and The World This Hour. You will steer editorial meetings, drive live coverage, and ensure precision, speed, and audience-focused storytelling across radio and streaming platforms.

The role requires at least seven years in broadcast journalism, strong editorial judgement, and expertise in live broadcasting.

Qualifications

Seven years in broadcast journalism with a degree in journalism or related field.
Proven experience producing live and breaking news programming.
Strong editorial judgment and newsroom leadership.
Familiarity with iNews, Dalet, Avid Media Central and Google tools.
Excellent communication, coaching, and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

Editorial Direction: Determine story priorities and guide teams through live, breaking, and ongoing news coverage.
Live Experience: Foster breaking news culture and align with CBC News strategy across platforms.
Manage Production & Broadcast: Oversee daily production and live broadcasting, shaping the lineup.
Change Agent: Drive continuous improvement and adapt newsroom structures and roles.
Foster Collaboration: Lead inclusive story meetings and coordinate across CBC News platforms.
Team Leadership: Support staff development and provide regular feedback.
Champion Audience Growth: Use insights to expand reach to new and younger news consumers.
Maintain Standards: Uphold CBC’s Journalistic Standards and Practices.
Operational Support: Step in for functions of a similar or lower role when needed.
