Job summary

FirstService Residential Canada is seeking a Heavy Duty Cleaner to maintain cleanliness of interior and exterior areas of the Oakville property. You will ensure owner and guest satisfaction with thorough cleaning and timely attention to maintenance needs.

Shifts run Saturday through Sunday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. Responsibilities include restroom cleaning, floor care, waste disposal, reporting safety hazards, and stocking supplies.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of standard janitorial methods, practices, tools, and equipment.
• Knowledge of proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to operate janitorial tools and cleaning equipment.
• Must lift up to 50 lbs.
• Understanding of safety rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of building and property security procedures.
• Ability to explain instructions to others.
• Ability to prioritize the work.

Responsibilities

• Cleans and services restrooms.
• Sweeps, vacuums, and mops floors and stairways.
• Gathers and disposes of rubbish and waste materials by hand or with powered equipment.
• Observes appearances and conditions of premises and equipment; reports needed repairs or safety hazards.
• Dusts blinds, furniture, file cabinets, door frames, railings, windowsills with dust mittens or cloths.
• Polishes furniture, metal work, and chrome using cleaning compounds.
• Maintains an inventory of cleaning and toiletry supplies.
• Washes walls, ceilings, woodwork, windows, mirrors, fixtures using ladders.
• Cleans grounds and parking lots of litter and debris.
• Loads/unloads supplies, moves heavy furniture with dollies/handcarts.
• Replaces light bulbs and fuses.
• May perform ground maintenance including snow removal and salting.
• Assists in moving garbage bins as needed.
• Maintains and cleans compactor room.
• Performs related work as assigned.
