Craft and Crew seeks a Web Developer to lead the development of high-quality, large-scale websites using Drupal, WordPress, and Craft CMS. You will ensure client needs are met while upholding top technical standards and ongoing maintenance.

You will mentor junior developers, contribute to process improvements, and perform QA, debugging, and performance optimization to deliver secure, accessible experiences.

Job description

As a Web Developer at the Craft&Crew group of companies, you will lead the development of high-quality, large-scale websites using Drupal, WordPress, and Craft CMS, ensuring they meet the needs of our clients while adhering to the highest technical standards. You will also be responsible for the ongoing support and maintenance of websites, troubleshooting issues, and performing quality assurance to guarantee a seamless user experience. Additionally, you will play a key role in mentoring team members and improving development processes.

Development Responsibilities:
  • Website Development: Lead the planning, design, and creation of exceptional websites, ensuring projects are completed on time and within resource constraints.
  • Drupal, WordPress, and Craft Expertise: Develop and maintain custom modules, themes, and integrations for Drupal, WordPress, and Craft-based websites, ensuring best practices in security, performance, and accessibility.
  • Support & Maintenance: Provide ongoing support for existing websites, addressing bugs, optimizing performance, and applying security updates to keep sites running smoothly.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of deliverables through thorough testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices. Proactively identify potential issues and address them before they impact users.
  • Process Improvement: Actively contribute to refining and improving the development process, offering suggestions for tools, workflows, and strategies that enhance the team's overall efficiency and output.
  • Coding Standards: Ensure adherence to coding best practices, including clean, maintainable code and documentation, following established standards for security, performance, and accessibility.
  • Time Tracking: Accurately log time spent on development tasks and projects, ensuring proper tracking for project management, billing, and resource allocation purposes
Team Collaboration & Mentorship:
  • Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing: Guide and support junior developers, helping them grow their technical skills and understanding of best practices.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, designers, and other team members to ensure smooth project delivery and alignment with client goals.
  • Client Communication: Engage in clear, concise communication with clients and internal stakeholders, explaining complex technical concepts and providing updates on project status and technical challenges.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Client Support: Assist with client requests for updates, improvements, and fixes, ensuring a high level of client satisfaction through timely and effective solutions.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Drupal, WordPress, Craft, and web technologies, applying new knowledge to enhance the quality and efficiency of the team's work.
  • Problem-Solving: Tackle technical challenges head-on, translating complex user flows, stakeholder goals, and design requirements into functional, accessible, and user-friendly web experiences.
  • Quality Control: Take ownership of delivering projects that meet or exceed quality standards, conducting regular testing and addressing any issues that may arise.
  • Content Support: Occasionally assist with newsletters, social media content, and web updates as needed.
  • Miscellaneous: Perform other related duties as required.

Craft&Crew is a remote-first company, but we require all staff to attend certain annual events and meetings in person. Candidates must already be located in Canada, ideally in Ottawa, Montreal, or Toronto.
