Job description

Content Bloom is a close-knit international consulting company headquartered in Halifax, Nova Scotia. We work with Fortune 500 and other leading organizations to build digital experiences, applications, and integrations with enterprise Content Management Systems such as Optimizely, RWS Tridion, Sitecore, and Adobe Experience Manager (AEM).

We’re looking for a Web Developer who is curious, dependable, eager to learn, and enjoys solving problems as part of a team. You don’t need to know everything when you join us. What matters is that you have a strong foundation, take ownership of your work, work well with others, and know how to find answers using the resources and people around you.

What you’ll bring
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, plus at least one year of professional experience in web development, CMS development, or a similar technical environment.
  • A development mindset that combines implementation, business analysis, and testing. You clarify requirements, understand the underlying business need, identify gaps or inconsistencies, and think about how your work will be tested and validated.
  • Basic working knowledge of web development tools, technologies, and practices. Experience with Java, React, Angular, .NET, or enterprise CMS platforms is an asset.
  • A solid understanding of web and application development fundamentals and the ability to learn new technologies and development environments.
  • Experience using AI-assisted tools for coding, business analysis, documentation, research, and communication. You use good judgment to validate AI-generated work, keep it aligned with requirements and context, and prevent inaccurate or low-quality output from reaching deliverables.
  • Clear and proactive communication with teammates and clients across different time zones and communication channels.
  • Strong listening skills and a willingness to understand what people actually need, not just the instructions they provide. You’re comfortable sharing ideas and feedback while remaining open to different perspectives.
  • The ability to investigate and solve routine technical problems using documentation, online research, forums, teammates, and more experienced developers before escalating an issue.
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in producing reliable, well-tested work.
  • A willingness to follow development standards, processes, and patterns established by the team and client.
  • A proactive attitude and genuine interest in continuing to develop your technical skills.
  • Authorization to work in Canada and willingness and ability to travel globally when required.
What you’ll do
  • Work as part of a collaborative development team delivering websites, applications, and digital experience solutions for clients.
  • Help understand client requirements and translate them into practical web solutions with support from experienced team members.
  • Build and maintain reusable, modular web pages, components, and features across new and existing websites.
  • Work within established design and development patterns and apply standards defined by the team and client.
  • Investigate and resolve routine development issues using available resources before asking for help.
  • Communicate progress, questions, and potential issues proactively so the team can respond early when needed.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and quality checks to ensure solutions work as expected.
  • Perform accessibility, cross-browser, and cross-device testing and help identify issues before they reach the client.
  • Contribute to internal projects and smaller client engagements while building confidence and independence as a developer.
  • Work alongside experienced developers and consultants to learn how to approach increasingly complex technical and client challenges.
  • Participate in team and company activities and contribute to a positive, supportive working environment.
What will help you succeed
  • You’re proactive. When you encounter a problem, you investigate it and make a reasonable attempt to find a solution before escalating it. You’re comfortable saying, “I don’t know yet, but I’ll find out.”
  • You care about the details that make the difference between something that simply works and something that works well. You’re willing to learn from documentation, teammates, clients, feedback, and experience.
  • You understand that development standards aren't just about following instructions. They help define what good work looks like for the team and the client. You’re comfortable asking questions when you need help and communicating early when something isn't going as expected.
  • You enjoy working with others and understand that good development requires more than technical skills. It requires listening, communication, reliability, and teamwork.
  • Most importantly, you’re an active participant. You contribute ideas, ask questions, help your teammates, and take responsibility for the quality of your work.
Bonus points
  • A good sense of humor.
  • No fear of dogs - this is almost mandatory.
  • Enjoyment of pool, ping pong, or outdoor activities.
  • A resume that tells a story and shows what you’ve accomplished rather than simply telling us how great you are.
  • An interest in proactively solving problems beyond your immediate area of responsibility.
  • An understanding that being a successful web developer means thinking about the client, not just the code.
  • A willingness to contribute to shared leadership and help make Content Bloom a better place to work.
