Job summary

Canada Life is seeking a Solutions Architect in Toronto to shape the technical vision for Wealth technology and partner with business units for delivery. You will define architectures, mentor peers, and ensure alignment with enterprise patterns while driving innovation.

The role emphasizes collaboration with portfolio teams, hands-on development when needed, and contributing to roadmaps that improve business value. This is a hybrid, full‑time opportunity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level degree in Computer Science / Software Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 7 years of related technology experience.
• At least 4 years as an architect on large-scale projects.
• Experience leading architecture activities with Enterprise/Portfolio Architects.
• Mentor to less-experienced architects and developers.
• Experience with modelling languages and architecture disciplines (UML, TOGAF, Archimate, 4+1 View, LeanIX).
• Experience in Wealth Management technology ecosystems.
• Strong business acumen and financial understanding (TCO/ROI).
• Strong communication with both tech and business teams.
• Self-starter who thrives in ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Defines and facilitates solution architecture leveraging enterprise capabilities to align processes, tech, data and people.
• Consults with business partners and delivery stakeholders.
• Participates in defining and maintaining technical solution architectures.
• Drives architectural decisions and develops technical vision for the solution.
• Defines candidate architecture solutions and maintains architectures for applications.
• Ensures quality designs for infrastructure and development issues.
• Identifies opportunities to improve organizational efficiency.
• Acts as trusted technology advisor to business units.
• Supports technology roadmaps and proposals to meet business plans.
• Collaborates with team to accommodate future architectural changes.
