Job summary

Scotiabank's Wealth Management division is seeking a 12-month Valuation Analyst Intern in Toronto to support daily valuation operations and learn securities valuation, market research, and investment products.

The role runs January 2027–December 2027, 37.5 hours/week, with in-depth training, mentorship, and exposure to market updates as part of a dynamic, inclusive team.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education in Finance, Accounting, Economics.
• Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; Bloomberg experience is a plus.
• Interest in financial markets and investment products; CFA progress is asset.

Responsibilities

• Verify and review financial data, broker quotations, pricing sources, across multiple asset classes.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.
• Prepare and deliver daily valuation packages with accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist in identifying securities and escalation issues.
• Collaborate with team to meet objectives and support operations.
• Research market developments, valuation methodologies, and investment products.
• Deliver quarterly market updates to Valuation Committee.

This full-time internship is designed to introduce students to the dynamic world of valuation and financial markets within Wealth Management. As a Valuation Analyst Intern, you'll gain hands‑on experience supporting the daily operations and key deliverables of the Valuation Team while developing practical knowledge of securities valuation, market research, and investment products.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

Verify and review financial data, broker quotations, pricing sources, and other relevant information across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, foreign exchange, and derivative securities.

Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies.

Support the preparation and completion of daily valuation packages with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, auditability, and attention to detail.

Assist in identifying securities and escalation issues appropriately.

Collaborate with team members to achieve group objectives and support ongoing operational activities.

Research financial markets, valuation methodologies, corporate actions, and investment products.

Continuously expand your knowledge of financial instruments and valuation best practices.

Prepare and deliver quarterly market updates to the Valuation Committee.

You are currently enrolled in post-secondary education, preferably in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.

You possess strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.

You demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

You have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You have an interest in and knowledge of financial markets and investment products.

You are highly motivated, accountable, proactive, and eager to learn.

You are proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Experience with Bloomberg or other financial data platforms is considered an asset.

Progress toward or interest in obtaining the CFA designation is considered an asset.

You enjoy working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
