Job summary

Scotiabank in Toronto offers a Canadian Banking - Technology & Analysis Internship/Co-op for Winter 2027. The role runs January–April 2027, 37.5 hours per week, and focuses on identifying data needs, gathering requirements, and building data-driven solutions using SQL, Python, and Power BI.

Eligible candidates are currently enrolled in post-secondary education with strong Excel skills, a passion for analytics, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced bank

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in post-secondary education.
• Strong knowledge of analytical tools and languages such as SQL, Python, Power BI, SAS, etc.
• High proficiency with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Ability to clearly identify and articulate key insights and recommendations.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Proactively identify data needs and manage data collection.
• Gather business and data requirements to clearly outline business problems, opportunities, and solutions.
• Follow analytical frameworks: hypothesis development, collecting, preparing, and combining data from multiple sources, analyzing data, validation, drawing conclusions, assessing risks, and developing actionable recommendations.
• Build and present strong data-driven business cases to drive strategies.
• Leverage SQL, Python, and data visualization software (Power BI) to develop analytical models that support strategic initiatives and improve business processes.
• Create reporting through Excel or PowerPoint.
