Job summary

Jacobs is hiring a Wastewater Process Engineer in Burnaby to design and deliver water and wastewater infrastructure across Western Canada. You’ll join a multidisciplinary team and support project delivery from proposal to completion.

The role requires 10–12 years of wastewater experience, a P.Eng. in BC or eligibility, and up-to-date knowledge of treatment processes. A hybrid work model and travel to local sites are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering; Master’s considered an asset.
• P.Eng. designation in BC or eligibility to obtain.
• 10–12 years of wastewater process engineering experience.
• Ability to travel to local project sites; BC driver’s license considered an asset.
• Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes.
• Experience with process modelling tools (BioWin, GPS-X, Sumo).
• Experience supporting project management activities including coordination, schedule and budget tracking.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support process design of wastewater treatment facilities across design phases.

As a Wastewater Process Engineer in our Burnaby office, you’ll play a key role in delivering impactful water and wastewater infrastructure projects across Western Canada. Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Lead and support the process design of wastewater treatment facilities, including preliminary and detailed design phases
• Perform process modelling, mass balances, and hydraulic calculations for treatment systems
• Develop technical reports, specifications, and design documentation
• Participate in pilot testing, process optimization, and troubleshooting activities
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers
• Support proposal development, including technical approach and scope definition
• Provide mentorship and guidance to intermediate and junior engineers
• Support or lead project delivery for wastewater projects of moderate complexity
• Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
• Coordinate with internal teams, subconsultants, and clients to ensure alignment on project objectives
• Monitor project progress and proactively manage risks and changes
• Contribute to client relationship management through effective communication and technical leadership

Here's what you'll need

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering (Master’s degree considered an asset)
• 10–12 years of relevant wastewater process engineering experience
• Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in British Columbia or eligibility to obtain
• Ability to travel to local project sites (having a driver’s incense in British Columbia is considered an asset)
• Strong knowledge of wastewater treatment processes
• Experience with process modelling tools (such as BioWin, GPS-X or Sumo)
• Demonstrated experience supporting or contributing to project management activities, including coordination of multidisciplinary teams, schedule and budget tracking, and client communication
• Ability to support delivery of projects through various phases, with an understanding of scope, risk, and change management principles
• Strong communication, stakeholder coordination, and technical writing skills

Ideally, You’ll Also Have

• Experience working on municipal infrastructure projects in Western Canada
• Previous consulting engineering experience
• Proven ability to manage client relationships and contribute to business development
• Familiarity with BC regulatory requirements and guidelines

90,000.00

Posted Salary Range Upper

140,000.00

The base salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $140,000.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
