Job summary

Town of Whitchurch-Stouffville is seeking an experienced Supervisor, Water/Wastewater to lead the planning, scheduling and regulatory compliance of municipal drinking water and wastewater systems. You will serve as the ORO and oversee underground locates, meters, and day-to-day operations.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive knowledge of water/wastewater regulations, and exceptional communication to coordinate with staff, officials, and the public.

Qualifications

• Five years of municipal Public Works experience with two years in supervision.
• Post-secondary diploma/degree in Contract Administration or Project Management.
• MOECP Water Distribution Level 1 Certificate and Wastewater Collection Level 1 License.
• Sanitary Certificate Level 2 is preferred.
• Proficient with Safe Drinking Water Act, Health and Safety, WSIB, labour relations and collective agreements.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office- Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and work order/work management systems.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with all municipal staff, elected officials, residents and other agencies.
• Advanced leadership and supervisory skills.
• Effective organization skills; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines regularly.
• High degree of accuracy, attention to detail and record keeping skills.
• Problem-solving skills, discretion and good judgement when handling confidential/sensitive information and communicating with individuals regarding controversial matters.
• Ability to Build strong staff teams and alliances; Champion the municipality's vision and goals.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, supervise and ensure regulatory compliance of water/wastewater operations.
• Serve as the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) for municipal drinking water systems.
• Oversee underground utility locates scheduling and meters maintenance.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team and ensure service excellence.
