Job summary

North Perth is seeking a Chief Operator to lead the day-to-day operation of its water and wastewater systems in Listowel, Ontario. This on-site leadership role requires MECP licenses and five years of municipal operating experience to ensure safe, reliable service.

You will oversee a skilled team under the Director of Environmental Services, ensuring compliant operations, responding to shifting priorities, and promoting health, safety and continuous improvement across the utilities.

Qualifications

• License: MECP Water Distribution & Supply License Class II and Wastewater Treatment License Class III.
• 5 years progressive management experience in water/wastewater operations; municipal experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of MECP regulations, standards and service levels.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
• Commitment to health and safety, regulatory compliance and continuous improvement.

Salary Range: $51.96 To $64.95 Hourly

We're looking for an experienced and technically driven Chief Operator to lead the day-to-day operation of our municipal water and wastewater systems.

As the Overall Responsible Operator (ORO) for North Perth’s Water and Wastewater Systems, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of essential services to our growing community. This is an opportunity to bring your technical expertise, leadership, and problem-solving skills to a role where your work has a direct and meaningful impact.

Reporting to the Director of Environmental Services, the Chief Operator provides on-site leadership, technical direction, and operational oversight to the Utility Foreperson and Utility Operators. You will help lead a skilled team while ensuring our water supply and distribution systems and wastewater treatment and collection systems are operated safely, efficiently, and in compliance with all applicable legislation and regulatory requirements.

This is an on-site operational leadership position.

Successful candidates will bring:

• MECP Water Distribution & Supply License class II and Wastewater Treatment License Class III in compliance with O. Reg # 453/93.
• 5 years progressive management experience in water/wastewater operations with municipal experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of current MECP Water/Wastewater regulations, standards and levels of service.
• The ability to function well under pressure, and to respond to frequently changing demands and priorities.
• A commitment to health and safety, regulatory compliance, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Salary is based upon a 40 hour work week and will align with experience and qualifications.
