Job summary

The Municipality of Port Hope is seeking a Water/Wastewater Inspector to coordinate PHAI activities for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure. You will review designs, inspections, and permits, and oversee contractors to ensure compliance with all standards and regulations.

Role requires knowledge of MOECC Safe Drinking Water Act, and relevant certifications; formal education is preferred. Travel throughout the municipality and on-site work are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience as Operator in Charge (O.I.C.) per Ontario regulations 128/04 and 129/04.
• Knowledge of MOECC Safe Drinking Water Act and related regulations.
• Familiarity with AWWA standards and OPS guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate PHAI project requirements for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure.
• Review design plans, inspections, and permits; ensure compliance with standards.
• Oversee contractors to ensure work aligns with approved designs.
• Obtain necessary regulatory permits and approvals for planned activities.
• Inspect installations and verify compliance with municipal requirements.
• Communicate daily with contractors and design engineers on compliance.
• Maintain records, maps, logs, and reports; coordinate with ORO and municipal staff.
