Job summary

Northwest Employment Works is seeking a Water Treatment Technician for the Hemlo Mine Site, Mill Department. You will operate, monitor, and maintain the portable water treatment plant to meet regulatory standards and supply site facilities safely.

This remote role requires strong analytical skills, documentation discipline, and ability to work 12-hour shifts on a 7/7 rotation. Post-secondary certification in water treatment is preferred, with Grade 12 mandatory.

Qualifications

Job description

Position Title: Water Treatment Technician

Classification: Full-Time Permanent Position

Location: Hemlo Mine Site – Mill Department

Posting Date: September 21 – October 2 at 12:00 pm

About the role:

Working within the Mill Dept. at Hemlo Mine Site, the Water Treatment Technician will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the portable water treatment plant for the mine site. The purpose of this role is to ensure that the water meets all regulatory standards, being delivered safely and efficiently to the site facilities and personnel. The work location will be a remote environment, following standard safety and environmental protocols. This position will also support the Mill Operations team with the handling and mixing of reagents in the mill area.

Responsibilities:

• Operate, monitor, and maintain water treatment systems.
• Ensure that water quality meets all applicable regulatory standards.
• Conduct regular inspections and preventative maintenance on water treatment equipment.
• Perform water sampling and testing to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure documentation and reporting complies with the applicable standards and audits.
• Adhere to all mine site safety protocols and environment guidelines.
• Identify potential hazards in water treatment processes and implement corrective measures.
• Report water quality data, plant performance, and maintenance activities to supervisors.
• Collaborate with environmental team and other departments to ensure seamless operations.
• Work closely with Mill Operations team with reagent handling/mixing as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Experience:

• Completed Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent. (Required)
• Post-secondary diploma or certification in Water Treatment. (Preferred)
• Skill with handling portable industrial water treatment. (Preferred)
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. (Required)
• Proficiency in water quality testing and instrumentation (Preferred)
• Collaboration and independent work skills while in a remote area with challenging environments. (Required)
• Excellent communication and record-keeping abilities (Required)
• Physical strength to lift at least 50lbs. (Required)
• Physically fit to perform tasks that may require lifting, climbing, and working in confined spaces. (Required)
• Availability to work a rotational schedule (7/7 rotation working 12-hour shifts). (Required)

Pay & Benefits:

• Salary Range: $40.00 – $57.00 an hour
• Compensation will be based on a combination of education, training and experience
• Monthly Incentive (Bonus)
