Job summary

Kahkewistahaw First Nation #72 is seeking a Water Treatment Plant Assistant Operator to oversee daily operation, maintenance, and monitoring of the community's water treatment and distribution systems, ensuring safe, potable water for residents. The role emphasizes adherence to federal, provincial, and First Nation standards, along with strong organization, reliability, and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Training will be provided for quality assurance and safe handling.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years work experience in related field would be an asset.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Willingness to take training opportunities to ensure accurate and high-quality work.
  • Be punctual, dependable, reliable, and committed to the position.
  • Possess the ability to maintain confidentiality and sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
  • Possess a valid Driver's License and own a reliable vehicle.
  • Submit a Criminal Record Check.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and monitor the community's water treatment and distribution systems to ensure safe drinking water.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and First Nation standards and regulations.
  • Assist community members with ensuring water quality is suitable for drinking and with filtration/ cleaning of portable water jugs.

This role requires adherence to strict water quality protocols and a commitment to protecting public health.They willassistcommunity members withensuring that the water quality isofgood qualitysuitable for drinkingandassistcommunity members with thefiltration and cleaning of their portable water jugs on day-to-day basis.

REQUIRED SKILLS &ABILITIES
  • MinimumGrade 12 diploma or equivalent
  • Work experienceinrelated field of two (2) years would be a definite asset.
  • Must have strong organizational skills and the ability to work independentlywith minimum supervision.
  • Must have strong written and oral communicationskills. Must be able to transcribe oral dictation precisely to written format.
  • The willingness to take training opportunities to help ensureaccurateandhigh-qualitywork performance.
  • Be punctual, dependable, reliable, and committed to the position.
