Job summary

Onterris in London or Guelph, Ontario, is seeking a Water Specialty Engineer to support multiple projects with our multi-disciplinary team and clients. You’ll work across disciplines and travel Ontario to gather data and advance designs.

Responsibilities include daily inspections on construction projects, topographic surveys, AutoCAD Civil 3D drafting, GIS coordination, hydrologic analysis, and contributing to proposals and technical reports. A B.Sc.

Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Water Resources Engineering.
• Eligible for EIT registration with Professional Engineers Ontario.
• Knowledge of open channel and pipe hydraulics and stormwater system design.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Team oriented, flexible and eager to learn.
• Valid Class G driver's license with clean record.
• SWMM, PC SWMM, River2D, MIKE FLOOD, MIKE URBAN, HEC-RAS, DAMBRK, Culvert Master, MIKE SHE, HEC-HMS are assets.
• 1–3 years of consulting or related experience is an asset.
• Experience on active construction sites is an asset.

Water Specialty Engineer

A Day in the Life

As an Water Specialty Engineer, In our London or Guelph office, you’ll be responsible for assisting multiple projects where you will have increasing interaction with our multi-disciplinary staff, regulatory agencies and clients. You will be part of a strong team of committed professionals.

The compensation range for this role is $25.00 to $30.00 commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

To thrive in this role, you’ll be comfortable taking ownership of the following responsibilities:

• Complete daily and occasional inspections on construction projects, including reporting and documentation
• Willing to travel and undertake field work across Ontario
• Complete topographic surveys and as-built surveys
• Drafting and design support using AutoCAD Civil 3D software to create base plans from field surveys
• Coordinate with drafting and GIS staff to prepare report figures and/or design drawings
• Analyze, assess, and interpret data for hydrologic and hydraulic analysis
• Assist in the preparation of proposals and technical reports, technical specifications for engineering designs and cost estimates

Your Expertise And Skills

• B.Sc. in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or Water Resources Engineering
• Must be eligible for registration as an EIT (Engineer in Training) with Professional Engineers Ontario
• Basic understanding of open channel and pipe flow hydraulics, stormwater management system design, and river engineering
• Strong organizational and interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
• Team oriented, versatile and flexible self-starter, a positive attitude, and enthusiasm to learn and grow
• Possess a valid Class G driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• SWMM, PC SWMM, River2D, MIKE FLOOD, MIKE URBAN, HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), DAMBRK, Culvert Master, MIKE SHE, and HEC-HMS will be considered as asset
• One to three years of consulting experience (or relevant pre-graduation work or co-op experience) would be an asset
• Experience working safely on active construction sites would be an asset
