Job summary

The City of Kamloops is seeking a permanent, full-time Water and Wastewater Operator II to operate, monitor and maintain the city’s sanitary sewer, water distribution, and stormwater networks, ensuring safe, reliable service for our community.

The successful candidate will hold EOCP Level II certifications in wastewater and water distribution, a BC Driver’s Licence (Class 5), and meet the EOCP guidelines; a high school diploma is required, and three years’ experience per Level II certification

Qualifications

• Completion of senior secondary school or its equivalent.
• Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5.
• Valid BC EOCP Level II Certifications in both Wastewater Collection; and Water Distribution.
• Three years’ experience is typically required for each Level II certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain the city’s sanitary sewer collection, water distribution, and stormwater networks to ensure safe, reliable service.
• Follow EOCP guidelines and ensure compliance in all operations.
• Coordinate maintenance activities and participate in routine system monitoring and inspections.
• Candidates may be subject to a police information check before formal offers.

Position Overview

Join our team as a permanent, full-time Water and Wastewater Operator II and play a vital role in maintaining the city’s essential water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. In this hands-on position, you’ll operate, monitor, and maintain the city’s sanitary sewer collection, water distribution, and stormwater networks—helping ensure safe, reliable service for our community every day.

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications: All requirements must comply with the Operator Certification Program Guidelines as laid out by the British Columbia Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) Society.

• Completion of senior secondary school or its equivalent.
• Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5.
• Valid BC EOCP Level II Certifications in both of the following:
  a.Wastewater Collection; and
  b.Water Distribution.

Note: The above certifications include a combination of education and experience as determined by the Environmental Operations Certification Program (EOCP). Typically, three years’ experience is required for each Level II certification.

For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check.
