Job summary

The City of Regina is seeking an Equipment Operator III for the Water, Waste & Environment department in Regina, Saskatchewan. The role involves operating heavy equipment, towing trailers, and performing routine maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operation.

Qualified candidates will have Grade 12 or GED, at least 1 year of relevant experience, and must obtain Level 1 Operator Certification within 1 year. The position may require on-call duties and physical work in field conditions.

Qualifications

• Grade Twelve or GED equivalency.
• 1 year experience as Equipment Operator III with water/sewer Class III equipment.
• Must obtain and maintain Level 1 Operator Certification within 1 year.
• Thorough knowledge of mechanics and operation of Class III equipment.
• Ability to lead and train others on site.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to document work orders and reports.

Responsibilities

• Operate tandem and single axle trucks with a GVW of 23,500 lb or more and tow trailers up to 10,000 lb.
• Perform routine inspection, maintenance and minor repairs to keep equipment in good condition.
• Document time, equipment and material needed to complete work orders.
• Interpret and follow construction plans and related instructions.
• Provide direction and training for other employees as required.
• Identify parts on site and purchase replacement parts with correct account codes.
• Follow all OH&S rules and City policy.
• Perform related duties as required.
