Job summary

Stantec's Land Services Team is seeking a Water Resources Engineer, Certified Engineering Technologist or Engineering Graduate. The position will be based out of the Waterloo, London, or Hamilton office, with potential travel to other regional offices.

Responsibilities include modeling and design of surface water works, hydraulic calculations using SWMHYMO, PCSWMM, HEC-RAS and related tools, coordination with multi-disciplinary teams, and preparation of technical reports while ensuring

Responsibilities

• Undertake modeling and design tasks for surface water works in private and public sector projects.
• Perform calculations to analyze and design water resources components using standard and proprietary software.
• Coordinate with engineers and technical staff to meet project needs in a timely and effective manner.
• Prepare and review technical reports and design briefs; ensure compliance with municipal, provincial and federal regulations.
• Guide projects from feasibility through to detailed design, scheduling, tendering, construction and certification.
• Liaise with clients, agencies and others to determine project requirements and approvals.
• Perform field work as directed, including monitoring surface water systems, water quality sampling and bathymetric surveys.
• Manage surface water projects to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.

Job description

An opportunity exists within Stantec's Land Services Team for a Water Resources Engineer, Certified Engineering Technologist or Engineering Graduate. The position will be based out of the Waterloo, London, or Hamilton office, but may require travel to other regional Stantec offices.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Undertaking modeling and design tasks associated with surface water works in support of a wide variety of projects in both the private and public sectors. Assignments could include stormwater management and Low Impact Development designs, subwatershed plans, floodplain delineation/management analyses, drainage assessments for transportation projects, renewable energy projects, erosion control studies, etc.;
• Perform calculations to analyze and design water resources system components using company standard software and proprietary manufacturer software (e.g., SWMHYMO, PCSWMM, MIDUSS, GAWSER, HEC-RAS, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, Visual OTTHYMO etc.);
• Coordinate with engineers, technical staff and/or team members in various disciplines to ensure that the projects' needs are met in a timely and effective manner;
• Preparation/review of technical reports and design briefs to document analyses including taking responsibility for the quality of written, technical and graphic work. Review designs and reporting for compliance with municipal, provincial and federal regulations;
• Help guide projects through to completion, from due diligence/feasibility work, preliminary/ conceptual design, through to detailed design, scheduling, tendering, construction, and certification;
• With the support of senior staff, liaise with clients, agencies and others to determine project requirements and obtain approvals;
• Perform field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer. Field assignments may include the monitoring of surface water systems and features, water quality sampling, drainage system or bathymetric surveys, etc.; and
• Managing surface water related projects and/or tasks, ensuring completion of work on time and on budget.
