Job summary

The City of Edmonton is seeking a Water Quality Management Specialist to lead environmental compliance and protect water ecosystems. You will oversee groundwater, surface water and leachate at Waste Services facilities, manage contaminated sites, and supervise sampling teams to support air, water and soil monitoring.

Your role includes analyzing monitoring networks, providing technical support to project teams and regulators, and performing cost/benefit analyses for projects.

Qualifications

• University degree in Sciences or Engineering with specialization in Environmental Sciences and at least 6 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage groundwater, surface water, and leachate discharge to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee site remediation and long-term engineering management for contaminated sites.
• Supervise EWMC Sampling Group for air, water, and soil monitoring.
• Review and report on environmental monitoring networks.
• Provide technical and project support to internal teams, consultants, and regulators.
• Perform cost/benefit analyses and financial management for environmental projects.
• Support ENVISO, wildlife monitoring, and site sustainability programs.
