Job summary

Maple Lodge Farms in Brampton, Ontario, is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Operator to safely operate the Water Treatment plant equipment and processes.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Nutrient & Water Treatment, and involves monitoring, lab work, maintenance, and compliance with CFIA, GMP, HACCP, and OHSA standards. The position offers health benefits, pension, weekly pay, and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Environmental Industry.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, GMP, HACCP, BRC).
  • OHSA and WHMIS knowledge.
  • Analytical with problem-solving capabilities.
  • Knowledge of process improvement tools.
  • Attention to detail and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and operates the Water Treatment plant equipment and processes; documents and reports to the Trades.
  • Monitors Wastewater Plant processes with sampling, monitoring, analysis, and reporting; adjusts as needed.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures; adheres to PPE and safety requirements.
  • Monitors processes of the Water & Wastewater Treatment department including sampling and prep.
  • Conducts lab work and analyses of plant processes.
  • Follows SOPs for maintenance, housekeeping and operation of wastewater equipment.
  • Performs security duties and reports suspicious activities.
  • Supports supervisor with training and compliance with company objectives.
  • Adheres to all departmental policies and instructions for controlled and consistent work.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Nutrient & Water Treatment, the Waste Treatment Operator will be responsible for for the safe and compliant operation of the Water Treatment plant equipment and processes.

Monday – Thursday from 8:00pm – 4:00am & Sunday from 5:00pm – 1:00am

What You Will Be Doing
  • Monitors and operates the equipment and processes, and documents and reports to the Trades if any Company assets require attention to ensure maximum performance. Monitors any repairs and/or alterations so that repairs are completed in the proper fashion, and follows up to ensure that the asset performs as required.
  • Monitors Wastewater Plant processes with respect to sampling, monitoring, analysis, reporting, adjustments:and follows up to ensure the processes are performing as expected and required.
  • Follows all Company policies and procedures, and works safely, utilizing all required PPE in good condition. Reports any unsafe acts and/or conditions to management.
  • Monitors all different processes of the Water & Wastewater Treatment department involving sampling and sample preparation.
  • Conducts lab work and analyses of all plant processes.
  • Follows departmental SOPs with respect to all maintenance, housekeeping and operation of wastewater and related equipment.
  • Performs Security duties (e.g. watches for trespassers, unauthorized persons, or anything out of the ordinary), and contacts Security as necessary.
  • Assists and follows up with Supervisor with respect to employee training and compliance with Company objectives.
  • Policies, Processes & Procedures; Follow all relevant departmental policies, processes, standard operating procedures and instructions so that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
What You Will Bring
  • Knowledge of the Environmental Industry;
  • Must possess mechanical aptitude;
  • Working knowledge of food and meat plant regulatory standards (CFIA, etc.), GMP, HACCP, BRC, food safety, food quality, etc.;
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), WHMIS;
  • Analytical, with problem-identification and problem-solving capabilities;
  • Knowledge of process improvement tools;
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail and effective multi-tasking is essential;
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in a related field; or completion of a post-secondary course in Environmental Science preferred.
