Job summary

City of Windsor is seeking a Wastewater Collection Operator – Class I to join the Pollution Control Department. The role focuses on operating and maintaining a network of pumping stations, ensuring safety, and upholding regulatory licensing requirements.

The position offers regular full-time hours with a 40-hour work week and a pay rate of $34.04 per hour. Candidate must hold a Class I Wastewater Collection License and an Ontario Secondary School Diploma with two years of post-secondary

Qualifications

  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma plus two years of post-secondary education from a Community College or equivalent.
  • Must hold a valid Class I Wastewater Collection License under Regulation 129/04.
  • Must progress to Class IV Certification by passing required Ministry exams as per CUP E Local 82 agreement.

Responsibilities

  • Operate the pumping network on a single shift basis and monitor station performance.
  • Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance on process and facility equipment.
  • Conduct routine cleaning and housekeeping of facilities and equipment.
  • Inspect pumping stations and storm water management ponds for proper operation.
  • Input data into the record-keeping system and maintain logs as required.
  • Participate in occupational health and safety duties and ensure safe operations.

Education

Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma + 2 years post-secondary education
