Job summary

Corporation of the City of Timmins is seeking a Part-time Operator (OIT to Level 4) for the Waste Water division. The role involves monitoring wastewater plant processes, sampling, and maintaining logs. Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education.
  • Must have MOE Wastewater OIT licence or be willing to obtain Class 1.
  • College diploma in Environmental Studies or Chemical Engineering is an asset.
  • Experience in operations and maintenance of environmental processes.
  • Must have a valid unrestricted G driver’s licence.
  • Ability to work without direct supervision and follow written/oral instructions.
  • Basic knowledge of PLCs and SCADA systems is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Chief Operator of Wastewater Operations and fill in for operations relief.
  • Monitor and regulate levels in wet wells, tanks and digesters.
  • Regulate treatment processes at two wastewater plants and pumping stations.
  • Monitor chemical dosages and conduct tests for efficiency.
  • Maintain digital logs and record test results.
  • Assist with general maintenance of equipment and stations.
  • Perform cleaning of pumping station components; snow clearing and janitorial duties.
  • Collect and analyse wastewater samples per ECA and SOPs.
  • Coordinate with service providers and respond to emergencies.
  • Work rotating shifts including weekends.
  • Support Continuous Improvement Program for operational excellence.
