Job summary

Darling International Canada Inc. is seeking a Wastewater Operator to ensure wastewater processing equipment runs smoothly from production to environmental release, while monitoring air purification and ensuring environmental regulatory compliance.

Rotating shifts (days, afternoons, nights) with regular checks, sampling, and analysis are required. Strong teamwork, 1+ year of related experience, and relevant certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• University degree or college diploma in an environmental or related discipline.
• OIT and/or Class 1 WWTP Certification required.
• Minimum of 1 year operating experience in industrial or municipal biological wastewater treatment.
• Understanding of wastewater treatment processes, environmental requirements, equipment operation and maintenance.
• Knowledge of HACCP and its application to manufacturing.
• Must be computer literate with data analysis skills.
• Flexible, calm, proactive, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot on-site environmental control systems including the wastewater treatment plant.
• Complete regular equipment checks and process verification.
• Collect daily environmental samples and assist with analysis and reporting.
• Operate air quality equipment and other plant systems safely.
• Operate forklift and other large equipment safely while maintaining a tidy work environment.
• Handle additional plant duties as assigned.
