Job summary

City of Kamloops is seeking a reliable Laboratory Technician – Wastewater for a temporary, full-time training opportunity. You will perform routine and specialized testing of wastewater, sludge, and related samples to ensure regulatory standards are met.

The role offers hands-on experience toward becoming a fully qualified technician, with the pay rate starting at $39.592 per hour and a potential move to higher pay after 1.5 years. Hours are 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM (or 7:00–3:00 during schedule).

Qualifications

• Completion of a post-secondary degree in biology, microbiology, or a related field and 6 months experience in a wastewater treatment facility or related lab experience.
• Valid BC Driver’s Licence – Class 5.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and ensure regulatory standards in municipal wastewater treatment.
• Perform routine and specialized testing of wastewater, sludge, and related samples to protect environment.
