Our company has been solving challenging waste management problems with creative waste reduction and recycling approaches for 20 years. We are currently seeking several new waste audit technicians — individuals eager to make an impact, drive results, and be part of our ambitious team!

As a Waste Audit Technician, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Conducting waste audits in the field for The Regional Municipality of York and other clients
  2. Having access to a vehicle for daily travel to sites
  3. Occasionally traveling throughout the GTA and Ontario as needed
  4. Receiving waste samples from transfer station operators
  5. Manually sorting waste into categories
  6. Weighing categories and inputting data into the database
  7. Following strict safety protocols including PPE usage
  8. Supporting report writing as needed

We offer a starting wage of $18 per hour, with benefits after 6 months. The primary work location is:

  • York Region Waste Management Centre (YRWMC), 100 Garfield Wright Boulevard, East Gwillimbury

Occasional work may also be at:

  • Earl Turcott Waste Management Centre (ETWMC), 300 Rodick Road, Markham

  • Basic to intermediate proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Own transportation and a valid G driver’s license

Eco Canada Internship

This position is partnered with Eco Canada’s employment program, which offers wage subsidies to gain valuable on-the-job experience and skills training. Requirements include:

  • Intending to pursue an environmental career in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
  • Under 30 years of age
  • Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, or refugee
  • Eligible to work in Canada
  • Post-secondary graduate
  • Able to work full-time, permanently within 2 months
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Not previously participated in federal youth employment programs
  • Not currently employed by the host organization
  • Not a family member of the organization’s leaders
