Job summary

Alberta Heartland Railway Limited in Fort Saskatchewan, AB is seeking a Wash/Dry Operator to clean and prepare rail cars for loading polypropylene pellets, ensuring cleanliness and safety standards. You will inspect, de-heel, wash interior, dry, inspect again, and seal cars.

The role requires a high school diploma, adherence to regulations, completion of Rail Washing System training, and a comprehensive background check. Permanent, on-site position with a competitive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a high school diploma.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience to perform duties in a manner that is consistent with industry and government regulations, rules, standards and procedures
  • Must complete the Rail Washing System technical training provided by the Company and be qualified in rail car washing operations

Responsibilities

  • External inspection for damage or defects. Opening of hatches and internal inspection.
  • Removal of any residual materials (de-heeling), paying particular attention to potential contamination from previous cargo. Thorough washing of the interior using approved cleaning agents and methods suitable for subsequent polypropylene loading.
  • Drying of the interior to prevent moisture contamination of polypropylene pellets.
  • Final inspection to ensure cleanliness standards are met, with special focus on eliminating any potential contaminants that could affect polypropylene quality.
  • Sealing the rail car, ensuring all valves are properly secured to prevent pellet loss during transport.
