Position Summary
This position is primarily responsible for handling inbound and outbound parcels in an efficient manner. Day to day duties may include such functions as unloading containers, storing goods, picking and packing orders, processing returns and/or processing shipments.
Key Responsibilities (Supervisory/Materials/Information)
• Container unloading, storage of goods, pick and pack of orders, returns and / or shipping
• Opening and examining contents of parcels
• Recording and photocopying information as required.
• Updating information in the computer and completing documentation
• Maintenance and cleaning of warehouse environment
Education and Experience
• Lift truck experience with valid license preferred
• Keyboarding experience an asset
Competencies, Working Skills & Attributes
• Good communication skills, both verbal and written
• Experience with computer applications including Microsoft Word, Excel and E-Mail.
• Ability to efficiently operate a lift truck
• Able to use scanning equipment, computer terminals etc.
• Follow direction and best practices regarding the safe use of software, hardware and machinery in the warehouse for processing of both packages and LTL shipments
Working Conditions, Mental Effort & Physical Requirements
• Considerable walking throughout the day
• Considerable bending and lifting of packages up to 50 pounds
• Working in a time-sensitive environment; quick pace required
• Climbing ladder necessary for order picking
• Working primarily in a climate-controlled warehouse environment
• Willing and able to work a variety of hours / shifts depending on the need during heavier shipping seasons
