The Salvation Army in Canada and Bermuda is hiring a Warehouse Worker to assist in reclaiming, processing and distribution of donated goods in a busy thrift operation.
You will follow safety guidelines, prepare items for store distribution, and help meet daily targets. Prior warehouse or thrift-store experience and high school completion are assets; WHMIS, First Aid, and background checks are part of the process.

The Warehouse Worker will be responsible for standard warehouse duties, assisting in the efficient and effective reclamation, processing or distribution of warehouse goods.
Serves in a warehouse or store, within a busy CFS ministry. The location of work may create a possibility of experiencing the following disagreeable conditions: angry/abusive people and verbal abuse, minor risk of harm, injury, illness due to physical attacks from others and/or exposure to infectious diseases. Emergency Response situations (fire, bomb threat, etc) Dirty environment / odours (garbage, washrooms) o Truck fumes o Excessive noise o Extreme temperature changes Work schedule may impact life (weeknights and weekends) Monotonous work (repetitive tasks) o Increased potential for on-site accidents (moving or sharp objects) o Exposure to toxic chemicals o Exposure to bodily fluids Other potentially dangerous situations (unsafe donations) Warehouse Hours generally Monday - Saturday but require some flexibility for special events or urgent situations. Not required to travel.
Required to complete general orientation, including safety in the workplace training and annual review. Contributes to the safety of staff and customers (e.g. snow removal, clear fire exits, no obstacles inside/outside store/warehouse, cleans spillage). Universal precautions: wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including gloves/glasses. Workers on the truck and/or are required to move furniture must wear steel-toed footwear. The above responsibilities must be discharged In accordance with The Salvation Army's Mission Statement, in a professional manner, upholding our code of conduct.
The successful candidate must have completed some High School. Prior related experience, including in a warehouse or thrift store setting, is an asset.
Characteristics: energetic, takes initiative, team player, organized and productive. Creative and flexible with the ability to adapt based on team, program, and service needs. Skills and Capabilities: The performance of the job requires physical dexterity; frequently sitting for long periods of time, twisting, bending, crouching, reaching, reaching overhead, pushing and pulling, lifting and kneeling and lifting up to 251bs. May on occasion be required to lift, move, or transport weights up to 501bs. Attention to detail and the ability to follow directions and well-defined steps. Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
The target hiring range for this position is $18.25 to $21.04 with a maximum of $23.82. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role. The Salvation Army will provide reasonable accommodation upon request.
