Job description

As one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies, Fresh Direct Produce is looking for aWarehouse QC Technicianin Vancouver, BC to join ourteam! Are you looking for new opportunities for growth? Would youlike to be part of a dynamic and entrepreneurial team?Reporting to the QC Supervisor, the job holder, utilizing their fresh produce knowledge and skills, will work in the warehouse with the Operations team to foster a well-organized product quality control process and cooler management. This role will also require regular physical lifting of produce items (boxes, bags) up to 40 lbs. The incumbent will contribute and support other Operations duties as needed.Some weekend work is required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALITY CONTROL

• Assist QC leader with daily quality control and inspection for all incoming, in-house, and outgoing products
• Sample test and brix of products when required
• Identify quality issues in a timely fashion and then determine courses of action
• Conduct daily cooler walks and product quality checks
• Monitor the consignment inventory
• Assist with product grading and monitor all product disposal
• Assist QC leader with all CFIA requests and inspections

OPERATIONS

• Work with the Grading Team Leader to set benchmarks for grading efficiency
• Ensure proper cooler organization
• Product rotation via FIFO method (First in/First out)
• Assist with inventory count

QUALIFICATIONS

• 2-3 years of experience in Food Safety or Quality Controlinspection in Food Production or Manufacturing
• Extensive produce knowledge – local & imported products; retail produce experience is a definite asset
• Experience in repacking processes
• Use of electric pallet jacks and/or forklifts is an asset
• Detail-oriented and methodical in documentation and processes
• Strong organizational skills
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment
• Hands-on individual with a strong work ethic
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Fluency in English (spoken & written)

Physical Capability:

• Requires frequent walking and standing for extended periods of time
• Working inside and outside coolers
• Lifting and carrying of up to 40lbs
• Operating a ride-on powerjack
