Job summary

UNFI Canada is seeking a warehouse associate to pick customer orders in a Concord, Ontario facility. You will operate a Walkie Rider and pallet jack, build secure pallets, and load orders while following safety rules and PPE requirements.

The role is an afternoon shift Sunday to Thursday, 3:00 PM to 12:15 AM, at approximately 43.75 hours per week. Physical work includes lifting up to 50 lbs and working in cool environments; steel-toed shoes are required.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of warehouse experience.
• Must be able to stand for long periods in a cool, damp environment.
• Certified to operate pallet jack/walkie rider.

Responsibilities

• Operate Walkie Rider/Electric Pallet Jack to pick, secure, and load orders.
• Build stable, well-secured pallets.
• Label and number pallets for proper put-away or delivery.
• Move completed pallets to freezer, loading area or trucks as required.
• Assist safely with loading trucks.
• Maintain warehouse cleanliness and sort/repack items.
• Follow safety policies and wear PPE.

Job Overview:

Responsible for picking customers inside a warehouse environment and completing picking in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner. Operates machinery including a Walkie Rider to pick customer orders.

Location: 8755 Keele Street, Concord, Ontario

Afternoon Shift/Schedule: Sunday to Thursday 3:00 PM-12:15 AM (43.75 hours per week)

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate a Walkie Rider/Electric Pallet Jack to pick, secure, and load orders.


• Build stable and well-secured pallets.


• Label pallets and number the pallets correctly to ensure proper put-away or delivery.


• Place each completed pallets into freezer, loading area and/or truck as required.


• Assist safely with loading trucks.


• Maintain cleanliness of the warehouse by sweeping, removing trash as needed.


• Sort, sticker and repack individual pieces appropriately.


• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures; wear appropriate PPE.


• Perform all duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures.


• Performs all other job duties as required.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

• Pallet Jack/Walkie Rider certification considered an asset.

Experience:

• At least one (1) year previous experience in a warehouse environment.


• Able to stand and work on feet for extended periods of time in a cool, damp environment.


• Certified to operate warehouse equipment, such as pallet jack/walkie rider.

Skills & Abilities:

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs on occasion.


• Able to work in different temperature environments including dry, cooler, and freezer (-20c).


• Able to stand for long periods of time.


• Able to safe operate walkie rider/electric pallet jacks


• Able to follow instructions (written/oral)


• Able to read and correctly interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.


• High regard for safety.
