Richelieu Hardware is looking for a Warehouse Material Handler for the Winnipeg Warehouse
More specifically, the main responsibilities of the position are to:
- Unload incoming delivery trucks and verify merchandise against shipping documents, purchase orders, packing slips, and internal receiving records
- Receive, count, inspect, and track shipments accurately using inventory and logistics systems
- Pick customer orders accurately by confirming item numbers, quantities, locations, dimensions, and product condition before shipment
- Load merchandise into delivery trucks using appropriate material-handing equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, carts, ladders, and lifting devices when required
- Operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment in accordance with training, site rules, traffic controls, and safe operating procedures
- Handle fragile, oversized, heavy, or high-value merchandise with care to prevent damage, injury, or customer service issues
- Track and document exact shipment arrival and departure times, discrepancies, damaged goods, missing items, and other receiving or shipping exceptions
- Tag, label, scan, sort, and store merchandise according to product type, size, shape, location, handling requirements, and warehouse procedures
- Package, box, wrap, secure, and prepare orders for shipment in accordance with quality standards, customer requirements, and transportation requirements
- Enter, update, and verify information in inventory, order entry, warehouse management, and logistics software programs
- Support cycle counts, inventory accuracy, stock rotation, replenishment, and location maintenance activities
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas, including aisles, racking areas, docks, equipment zones, and packing stations
- Follow Richelieu health and safety expectations, including PPE use, housekeeping, pedestrian and mobile equipment traffic rules, incident and near-miss reporting, and safe manual material handling practices
Requirements
- Previous warehouse, shipping, receiving, order picking, distribution, or logistics experience is an asset
- Forklift certification or previous experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, order pickers, or similar warehouse equipment is an asset
- Ability to read and verify shipping documents, packing slips, product labels, item numbers, quantities, and warehouse locations
- Basic computer skills and comfort using inventory, order entry, scanning, or warehouse management systems
- Good understanding of safe manual material handling practices and willingness to follow all health and safety rules
- Ability to work on your feet, lift and move merchandise safely, and use proper equipment or ask for assistance when required
- High attention to detail and accuracy when picking, receiving, packing, labelling, and documenting merchandise
