Job summary

MSCP Heat Management Solutions is seeking an experienced Warehouse Operations Manager in Alberta to lead safety‑driven, reliable warehouse operations in Sherwood Park. You will own day‑to‑day execution and drive systems, people and processes to improve material availability and throughput.

Key focuses include inventory accuracy, cycle counting, ERP/WMS implementation, KPI monitoring and continuous improvement using Lean/TOC principles to reduce waste and improve service to internal teams.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years progressive experience in warehouse/logistics or related operations.
  • Ability to develop processes, KPIs and use data to drive improvement.
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems and inventory accuracy initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, direct and evaluate day-to-day warehouse operations.
  • Develop and implement processes to improve efficiency and delivery.
  • Manage layout, space utilization and material flow to maximize capacity.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Procurement, Production, Transportation and Ops.
  • Oversee cycle counting, stock reconciliation and replenishment.
  • Implement ERP, WMS and digital warehouse systems for visibility.
  • Establish KPIs: inventory accuracy, throughput, costs, service levels.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Coordinate suppliers and service providers for warehouse needs.
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements and company standards.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate warehouse personnel.
  • Set performance expectations and provide coaching.
  • Manage operating budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Prepare operational reports and identify risks and improvements.
  • Lead continuous-improvement initiatives using Lean and TOC.
  • Address bottlenecks affecting material flow and throughput.
  • Develop practical solutions to reduce waste and improve reliability.

Key Responsibilities
  • The Warehouse Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance and continuous improvement of warehouse operations, ensuring materials are received, stored, controlled and distributed safely, accurately and efficiently.
  • This role owns day-to-day warehouse execution while developing the systems, people and processes required to improve material availability, inventory accuracy, throughput and service to operations.
Warehouse Operations
  • Plan, organize, direct and evaluate day-to-day warehouse operations, including receiving, material handling, storage, inventory control, order fulfillment, shipping and distribution.
  • Develop and implement warehouse processes, procedures and performance standards to improve efficiency, service levels, inventory accuracy and on‑time delivery.
  • Manage warehouse layout, space utilization, material flow and storage systems to maximize capacity and productivity.
  • Coordinate warehouse activities with Supply Chain, Procurement, Production, Transportation, Project Management and Operations to ensure material availability and effective service to internal stakeholders.
Inventory & Systems
  • Oversee inventory management programs, including cycle counting, stock reconciliation, replenishment, obsolete inventory management and inventory accuracy initiatives.
  • Implement and maintain ERP, WMS and other digital warehouse systems to improve inventory visibility, transaction accuracy, material traceability and operational decision‑making.
  • Establish and monitor warehouse KPIs, including inventory accuracy, receiving and shipping performance, order fulfillment, productivity, space utilization and operating costs.
Equipment, Facilities & Maintenance
  • Oversee the operation, maintenance and repair of warehouse equipment, material‑handling systems, vehicles, tools and facility infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain preventive maintenance programs and inspection schedules to improve equipment reliability and minimize operational disruption.
  • Coordinate suppliers, contractors and service providers for equipment, maintenance, transportation, materials and other warehouse‑related requirements.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure warehouse operations comply with workplace health and safety requirements and company standards.
  • Conduct regular workplace and equipment inspections, identify operational hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Promote safe material-handling practices and maintain a clean, organized and operationally disciplined warehouse environment.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate warehouse personnel.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, provide coaching and develop employee capabilities.
  • Manage warehouse operating budgets, monitor expenditures and identify opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining service, quality and safety standards.
  • Prepare and analyze operational reports, KPIs and statistics to identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Lead continuous‑improvement initiatives using data analysis, process optimization, Lean principles and Theory of Constraints.
  • Identify and address operational bottlenecks affecting material flow, inventory, warehouse capacity and organizational throughput.
  • Develop practical solutions that reduce waste, improve flow and increase the reliability and responsiveness of warehouse operations.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in warehouse, materials, logistics, supply chain or related operations, with demonstrated leadership responsibility.
  • Experience managing warehouse personnel, inventory systems, material handling and shipping/receiving operations.
  • Strong understanding of inventory control, cycle counting, material traceability and warehouse best practices.
  • Experience with ERP and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop processes, establish KPIs and use operational data to drive improvement.
  • Experience managing equipment maintenance, vendors, contractors and operating budgets.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Experience in industrial, manufacturing, construction or energy‑sector environments considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Lean, continuous improvement and Theory of Constraints principles considered an asset.
