Outpost Packaging Products Ltd. is seeking a Warehouse Associate for our Hastings, ON location. You will handle receiving, stocking, and shipping, with forklift operation and accurate inventory control.

The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and teamwork to support distribution across Central Ontario. The successful candidate will perform heavy lifting, verify product codes, process paperwork, and assist with freight scheduling.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare receiving dock to accept incoming product.
• Prepare materials for shipment.
• Match incoming and outgoing product with purchase orders.
• Verify product expiration codes.
• Inspect product to ensure saleable condition with acceptable code dating.
• Operate a Forklift or Electric Pallet Jack safely.
• Maintain a safe work environment.
• May lift cases of product and/or stock merchandise.
• Process all required paperwork and maintain records.
• Oversee loading/unloading of deliveries with accuracy.
• Sort and distribute incoming shipments.
• Perform quality audits of shipped goods.
• Report discrepancies to supervisor.
• Follow current standards and procedures.
• Ensure shipments have proper documentation.

Outpost Packaging Products is a distributor of packaging products in Central Ontario serving both industrial and food service businesses since 1977. The office and 10,000 square foot warehouse are located outside of Hastings. Orders processed from start to finish including delivery by our friendly and competent staff from Scarborough to Kingston, and more. Come join the team.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Warehouse Associate will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and seamless processing of incoming and outgoing shipments. The Warehouse Associate must load and unload shipments regularly, with the capability of repetitive heavy lifting, and use any necessary equipment, e.g. lift truck, forklift, etc. Other responsibilities will include the inspection of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify contents and quality and may be required to assist in the scheduling of freight appointments. The Warehouse Associate must understand the impact of this position to other business functions that depend on the accuracy and efficiency of warehouse operations. Inventory management and vendor relations with shipping companies are essential functions for this position. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Job Duties:

• Prepare receiving dock to accept incoming product.
• Prepare materials for shipment.
• Match incoming and outgoing product with purchase orders.
• Verify product expiration codes.
• Inspect product to ensure saleable condition with acceptable code dating.
• Operate a Forklift or Electric Pallet Jack in a safe manner to move received product.
• Maintain a safe work environment.
• May lift cases of product and/or stock merchandise according to documented procedures.
• Process all required paperwork and maintain adequate records for reporting and tracking.
• Oversee the secure and accurate loading and unloading of deliveries.
• Sort and distribute incoming shipments.
• Perform quality audits of the condition of shipped goods for both incoming and outgoing items prior to signing off.
• Report discrepancies to immediate supervisor.
• Follow current standards and procedures.
• Ensure that shipments contain proper documentation and if there are multiple items per shipment, ensure item lists are complete.
• Maintain organized work area according to policies, procedures and safety regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Working experience in Shipping and Receiving role preferred.
• Ability to perform repetitive heavy lifting.
• Able to communicate both verbally and in writing.
• Basic mathematical skills.
• Ability to weigh and measure items.
• Working knowledge of safe lifting methods.
• Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
• Computer literacy, including working skills of Excel and e-mail.
• Attention to detail in all areas of work.
• Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
• Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

Additional Information:

WORKING CONDITIONS
