Job summary

Open-Fields in Saskatoon is seeking a Warehouse Associate to support daily warehouse and fulfillment activities for cannabis and accessories. The role involves lifting up to 50 pounds and assisting with inbound/outbound operations, packing, and shipping.

The candidate will work under the Warehouse Manager, handling tasks such as receiving, put-away, picking, packing, labeling, and inventory checks. Proficiency with MS Excel/Word/Outlook and RF/barcode scanning is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum secondary education or GED.
  • Relative warehouse experience.
  • Preferred: First Aid, WHMIS, and experience with material handling equipment (lift trucks, pallet jacks) and RF/barcode scanning.

Responsibilities

  • Complete inbound and outbound warehouse tasks including receiving, sorting, put-away, picking, packing and shipping using 3rd party transport systems.
  • Print and organize order pick tickets and purchase orders; post received POs in the system and pick orders in the system.
  • Operate material handling equipment and endorse/assist with shipments as required.
  • Perform inventory control activities including cycle counts and physical counts; ensure quality and safety standards.
  • Maintain housekeeping and safety practices; report hazards to the Warehouse Manager.

Warehouse Associate

The Warehouse Associate will assist in the daily warehouse and fulfillment activities for retail stores and web orders of cannabis and accessories. The position reports to the Open Filed SK facility and involves lifting and carrying relatively heavy objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Warehouse Manager

Job Duties:
  • Complete manual tasks to support inbound and outbound operations covering dock receiving and sorting, put away, picking, packing, shipping using 3rd party transport systems.
  • Perform warehouse allied activities under the direction of the Warehouse Manager such as but not limited to:
  • Printing and organizing order pick tickets and purchase orders (PO) for receipt
  • System receive PO, and system post picked orders
  • Put-away to racking and shelf locations; consolidate locations and do continual moves to create open shelf/rack spots
  • Replenish forward shelf/rack locations for picking
  • Generate labels for receipts, packing, and shipping
  • Prepare shipping documents (packing lists, waybills)
  • Inventory control (cycle and physical counts).
  • Quality control checks ensuring accuracy (receipt, picks, inventory, shipping).
  • Unloading deliveries from van to dock using appropriate material handling equipment (MHE).
  • Endorsing and van loading (if need be) shipments on to trucks
  • Performing tasks according to safety standards; identifying workplace hazards (immediately eliminate, if not, report it to the warehouse manager)
  • Housekeeping (such as taking care of garbage/recycling wastes) and maintaining workplace cleanliness and organization
Education, Training & Experience:
  • Minimum secondary/GED education.
  • Relative warehouse environment experience.
  • Preferred: First Aid training, WHMIS knowledge; material handling equipment (lift trucks and manual pallet truck); RF/barcode scan experience.

  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with frequently changing dynamics.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Physically fit to lift heavy consignments.
  • Display attention to detail (essential).
  • Display computer skills: MS Excel, Word, and Outlook (intermediate level)
  • Be Reliable and Prompt (unexplained absences or tardiness is not acceptable)
  • Be comfortable working in a team environment.
  • Good arithmetic, problem-solving, and data-entry skills.
  • Show initiative, recognize process improvement opportunities and make recommendations.
  • Be an effective communicator (verbal/written/email/phone) with good interpersonal skills.
  • Able to adhere to all safety procedures in the performance of job duties.
Working Conditions:
  • Relatively heavy, physical work – be mindful & kind to your body as you are lifting, moving, or standing for long periods. Hydrate, take micro breaks, & stretch.
  • Use Team Lift for any heavy items.
  • The warehouse associate will work hours between (M-F 8:00am-5:00pm) but must be flexible to work on a different shift if need be based on operations requirements.
