About the role

On-site | Casual

The Warehouse Assistant role plays a key part in ensuring our warehouse runs smoothly. You'll handle various tasks including sample storage and organization, maintaining clean coolers, archiving and disposing of samples and data following protocol, preparing sample containers, and assisting the purchasing team. You'll ensure a clean and organized workspace while prioritizing exceptional service for internal clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transfer coolers from sample reception to the warehouse for cleaning;
  • Clean sample coolers for reuse and ensure there is an adequate supply for outgoing shipmentorders;
  • Store, archive, and dispose of samples and laboratory data following all standard operating procedures (SOP);
  • Assist with the moving and tracking of samples from login to disposal and the moving and tracking of long term archive samples;
  • Deliver samples from the receiving area to the appropriate team for analysis;
  • Clean & prepare sample containers for various laboratory analyses following standard operating procedures (SOP);
  • Assist with cleaning and organizing the warehouse to maintain a tidy appearance at all times;
  • Maintain a clean work area and perform basic facility maintenance;
  • Carry out on-site monthly wastewater discharge sampling;
  • Carry out daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and record keeping as required;
  • Participate in moving supplies to the appropriate section;
  • Provide general assistance for various facility and warehouse tasks as required;
  • Follow all standard operating procedures (SOP) or specific procedures (SP) for warehouse activities;
  • Follow all required quality assurance protocols;
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality;
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures;
  • Other duties as assigned.

About you:

  • Good English communication skills required (auditory, verbal, written, and reading);
  • Basic user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with basic knowledge of computers;
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately in a fast-paced environment;
  • Well organized, with the ability to meet strict deadlines;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to take on varied tasks as required;
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Commitment to excellence and a client-focused attitude.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of high school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Previous experience working in a laboratory, warehouse or fast-paced, environment is an asset;
  • Some customer service experience is an asset;
  • Knowledge from high school science courses and/or basic lab safety is an asset.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs/23kg on a regular basis and carry for short distances;
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks;
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as dust masks, gloves etc., when required;
  • Ability to stand for a full shift;
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
