Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking friendly waitstaff to take orders and deliver meals to guests in the dining room. You will greet guests, manage orders, and ensure a positive dining experience with attention to menu details and dietary needs.

Prior food service experience and a valid Food Handler certificate are preferred. Roles include multiple shifts and the ability to work with a diverse team in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the food services industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to greet guests warmly and explain menu items.
  • Must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests promptly and warmly in the dining room and take orders.
  • Deliver food and beverages promptly while maintaining sanitation standards.
  • Advise guests on menu items and dietary considerations; accommodate requests.
  • Coordinate with back-of-house to ensure accurate and timely service.
  • Address guest concerns or complaints and relay to supervisor as needed.
  • Ensure dining room is clean and properly set up before and after service periods.
  • Collaborate with other department staff during events and special functions.

2 shifts Tuesday through Saturday 3:30-7:30
2 shifts Sunday/ Monday 3:30-7:30 and Friday/Saturday 10:30-2:30
1 shift Friday/Saturday 3:30-7:30

How You Will Make An Impact

You will be responsible for taking food and beverage orders and efficiently delivering items to dining room guests.

As a Waitstaff, You Will Be
  • Promptly and warmly greet guests in the dining room; take food and beverages in an efficient manner, following established steps of service
  • Deliver food promptly and professionally; maintain safe food handling and sanitation standards. Follow up periodically to assist with any additional needs or requests
  • Demonstrate complete understanding of menu items and ingredients. Advise guests on appropriate combinations of food and drinks when requested; accommodate reasonable requests and notes preferences. Demonstrate knowledge of specialized diets
  • Communicate directly with back-of-the-house staff to ensure that orders are delivered correctly, and special requests are accommodated
  • Promptly address complaints or issues, relay relevant information or complaints directly to supervisor
  • Ensure that the dining room is properly set up prior to and after the service period; keep the area clean and neat while meeting established sanitation standards
  • Work with staff of other departments to perform job duties during special events and functions
About You
  • You have previous experience in the food services industry
  • You must have a valid Food Handler Certificate or provincial equivalent
  • Exceptional communications skills and ability to get along well with others
  • Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items, and stand/walk for majority of shift
