Job description

The waiters / waitresses take orders and serve guests according to Pizza Delight customer service protocol. They prepare table settings and perform meal and dessert service. They may perform functions similar to the hostess and the counter person.

Main functions
  • Apply health regulations concerning cleanliness;
  • Follow safety regulations;
  • Comply with WHMIS standards;
  • Use equipment properly according to guidelines;
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas and equipment;
  • Organize work areas efficiently;
  • Clear, clean, and reset tables in the dining room;
  • Wash and store dishes;
  • Supply service areas;
  • Handle reservations and greet take-out guests;
  • Greet guests, present menus, suggest items, highlight promotions, and answer questions about food and beverages;
  • Use sales techniques effectively;
  • Take orders and transmit them to the kitchen via POS system;
  • Prepare and serve beverages, wines, liquors, and cocktails following customer service protocols;
  • Prepare and serve desserts;
  • Serve meals and ensure quality service in the dining room according to customer service protocols;
  • Prepare bills, process payments, and balance daily transactions;
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements

Experience in restaurant operations is often required; on-the-job training is provided. Manual dexterity, understanding complex situations, attention to detail, and adaptability are essential. Interpersonal skills, ease in social interactions, teamwork, good communication, and bilingualism may be required. Good grooming, confidence, integrity, stress management, dynamism, autonomy, and flexibility are also necessary.

Working conditions

Work hours are scheduled, with occasional overtime. Schedules vary and may include daytime, nighttime, weekends, and statutory holidays. Part-time positions and split shifts are possible. Work is intense during mealtimes, in a noisy environment with pressure to maintain pace.
