Job summary

ShipMonk in Canada is seeking a strategic transportation leader to own our entire transportation network across small parcel, freight, air and ocean. You will design networks, negotiate with carriers, and build a team to execute multi-year plans while focusing on cost, speed, and customer experience.

Collaborate with Product, Revenue, and Operations to optimize the VCN tool, audit invoices, and drive initiatives that lower costs and strengthen service. A fast-paced growth environment awaits.

Qualifications

• Strategic leader with multi-year plan development to quarterly execution.
• Proven ability to build, develop, and retain high-performing teams.
• Strong communication and analytical capabilities across cross-functional teams.
• Direct experience with high-volume shipping across multiple carriers.
• Deep understanding of carrier invoicing, surcharges, and accessorials.
• Experience with regional carriers and multiple transport modes.
• Familiarity with zone skipping and postal sharing programs.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Minimum 3 years in a senior leadership role; 5 years in a similar environment.

Responsibilities

• Set the multi-year strategy for ShipMonk's transportation network and translate to quarterly plans.
• Design the carrier network to reduce cost and delivery time as volumes and lanes change.
• Build and coach a high-performing team with clear priorities.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives to improve supply chain efficiency and cost structure.
• Negotiate contracts with national/regional carriers including LTL, ocean, and air freight.
• Partner with Product to optimize the VCN tool for cost and performance.
• Own carrier relationships and serve as escalation point for vendor issues.
• Audit carrier invoices and performance to sharpen strategy.
• Develop business analyses to surface opportunities for process improvements.
• Apply zone skipping and other techniques to reduce transportation costs.
• Collaborate with Revenue/Operations to shape optimized delivery offerings.
