From CNN to The Huffington Post, the world is talking about the innovative movement that is downsizing global poverty. The Borgen Project believes that leaders of the most powerful nations on earth should be doing more to address global poverty. Our national campaign is working to make poverty a focus of U.S. and U.K. foreign policy.

Are you passionate about making a difference in the world? Look no further! The Borgen Project is an international organization that works at the political level to improve living conditions for people impacted by war, famine, and poverty.

With 20 years of experience in advocacy, The Borgen Project has supported the passage of numerous bills benefiting nearly 500 million people in developing countries.

This role offers insight into the key skills needed to lead and develop a nonprofit organization. It is a part-time, unpaid remote program of 12 hours per week over 12 weeks. If your availability is limited, you can work ahead and complete the program in fewer weeks.

Responsibilities

• Advocacy Leadership Development: Meet with government members in your district/constituency; represent The Borgen Project at various events; mobilize individuals to contact their representatives in support of poverty-reduction legislation.
• Fundraising Development: Learn fundraising strategies, create personal campaigns, and meet targets.
• Recruitment: Update job postings, inform groups and classes about openings, and participate in interviews.
• Marketing and Promotion: Pitch story ideas to media outlets, utilize social media, and develop strategies for online messaging.

Experience

No prior experience is necessary. We seek passionate individuals eager to fight poverty and advocate for change, regardless of background or GPA.

This is an unpaid program, but college credit may be available.

Start Date

Programs begin monthly; you can choose your start date.
