Job summary

The Municipality of Central Elgin is seeking Volunteers to join as Firefighter/Rescue Members. Train with the team, respond to emergencies, and protect lives and property for our community.

You’ll gain professional training, certification, and the experience of serving a close-knit department. Expect to respond to fires, rescues, and medical events, operate equipment, and maintain your readiness through regular training and drills.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Live within the Municipality of Central Elgin or within reasonable response time to Belmont, Port Stanley, Union, or Yarmouth stations.
• Have a valid Class G driver’s license.
• Commitment to training and regular call response.

• Complete formal training courses within your first year (evenings and weekends).
• Obtain medical clearance and pass a physical test to ensure you’re ready for the demands of the job.
• Pass a driver’s abstract and secure a vulnerable sector check to meet our high standards of trust and professionalism.
• Attend and successfully complete all mandatory training and complete the required minimum number of training hours each year.
