Job summary

City of Beaumont is seeking a dynamic Firefighter to join the Fire Services during an exciting expansion. You will respond to incidents, support prevention efforts, and participate in ongoing training to strengthen public safety.

Qualifications

• Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent.
• 3+ years of continuous fire service experience.
• NFPA 1001 Firefighter Levels I-II and related driver/operator certs.
• Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with Q endorsement and clean abstract.
• Standard First Aid with CPR/AED or higher.

Responsibilities

• Respond to fire and related incidents per protocols.
• Maintain equipment, apparatus, and station readiness.
• Deliver instructional sessions for Volunteer Firefighters.
• Build knowledge of Beaumont’s streets, water supply, and hazards.
• Attend safety meetings and report unsafe conditions.

What YOU’R Responsible for:

• Respond to Incidents:
  • Provide response to fire-related incidents, motor vehicle collisions, rescues, hazardous material incidents, and medical first response calls, in accordance with departmental protocols.
  • Take part in post-incident debriefings and ensure all equipment is inspected, serviced, and ready for future use.
• Maintain Operational Readiness:
  • Conduct regular inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of firefighting equipment and apparatus.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of the fire station and surrounding grounds to ensure operational efficiency.
• Train for Excellence:
  • Support the development of Volunteer Firefighters by preparing and delivering instructional sessions.
  • Develop and maintain a strong knowledge base of Beaumont’s streets, infrastructure, water supply, and potential hazards.
  • Comply with all applicable legislative requirements, safety procedures, and respectful workplace policies.
  • Promptly report unsafe conditions and near-miss incidents.
  • Actively participate in safety meetings and foster a culture of positivity and professionalism.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

What YOU Bring:

• Completion of Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Legally entitled to work in Canada (You must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent/Landed Immigrant)
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board Accredited NFPA 1001 Firefighter Levels I-II
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board Accredited NFPA 1002 Driver & Pumper Operator
• IFSAC and/or Pro Board Accredited NFPA 1072/470 Awareness & Operations
• A Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License with Q endorsement and a clean driving abstract
• Standard First Aid with CPR/AED or higher level
• At least 3 years of continuous and active fire service experience

• IFSAC and/or Pro Board Accredited NFPA 1002 Aerial Operations
• BlueCard Incident Command
• ICS 100
• Current member of Beaumont Volunteer Fire Services
