  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Driver's Abstract.
  • Commitment to 65% attendance at training nights.
  • Within 90 days: CPR Level C and Standard First Aid; Incident Command System 100.
  • Within 3 years: NFPA 1001/1002, Alberta Class 3 with Q-endorsement.
  • Maintain fitness for high-stress emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to fires, rescue incidents, MVCs, and hazardous materials incidents.
  • Provide first aid and assist AHS personnel.
  • Participate in regular training sessions to maintain firefighting skills.
  • Adhere to municipal and fire department policies and procedures.

Casual/Paid Per-Call

The Town of Morinville is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Casual/Paid-Per-Call Firefighter. Reporting to the Deputy Chief of Operations & Logistics, you will be responsible for responding to emergencies, including fire suppression, rescue operations, hazardous materials control, and fire prevention activities. You will uphold our mission to protect the quality of life for our community members through comprehensive emergency response and the safeguarding of life, property, and the environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to fires, rescue incidents, motor vehicle collisions, and hazardous materials incidents.
  • Provide first aid and assist emergency medical services (AHS) personnel.
  • Participate in regular training sessions to maintain and enhance firefighting skills.
  • Adhere to municipal and fire department policies and procedures.
  • Complete necessary reports and documentation related to emergency responses and training activities.

Requirements:

  • Must reside within the Morinville corporate limits and be at least 18 years of age on the date of your application.
  • Completion of High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
  • A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check and Driver's Abstract are conditions of employment.
  • Commitment to a minimum annual attendance rate of 65% for regularly scheduled training nights, held every Wednesday evening.
  • Possess or be willing to obtain the following within the first ninety (90) days of employment:
    • CPR “Level C” and Standard First Aid Certificate (EMR Certification or higher is preferred)
    • Emergency Management - Incident Command System 100 Certification
  • Possess or be willing to obtain the following within the first three (3) years of employment:
    • NFPA 1001 – Level 1 & 2 Firefighter Certification (or equivalent)
    • NFPA 1002 Firefighter Certification (or equivalent)
    • Alberta Class 3 Driver's License with a Q-endorsement
  • Maintain physical standards set by the Morinville Fire Department for high-stress working conditions that include heights, heavy lifting, physical exertion, and rapidly changing conditions found in dealing with emergencies.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated ability in working with fellow employees, organizational departments and volunteers.
