Organizational Description: Serves as a community branch mandated under provincial legislation to support and strengthen families, and work together with communities for the protection and care of children and the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
Volunteer Connections welcomes community members who wish to enhance Branch services by filling volunteer roles such as Mentors, Drivers, Tutors, Knitters, and Special Event Volunteers.

Description of Duties:
To transport and accompany children to family visits, therapy or other appointments as requested by Case Manager in consultation with Coordinator of Volunteer Connections
- Verify directions and pick-up time with caregiver
- Ensure safety measures are in place: car seats with tether hook, seatbelts, place child in rear seat etc.
- Drive child to appointment, and home
- Notify staff of significant events or concerns
- Record mileage and parking costs and submit monthly expense forms
- Observe volunteer policies and procedures as stated in manual
Skills Required:
- Competent, safe adult driver
- Current drivers' license and vehicle insurance
- Reliable vehicle and willingness to drive in rural areas
- Ability to relate to children in a warm and caring manner
- Ability to manage child behaviour if necessary
- Well-organized, dependable volunteer
- Good communication skills and mature problem-solving ability
- Cell phone recommended but not required
- Six-month minimum commitment
Skills Gained/Related Careers:
- Orientation to position, client family need and WCFS
- In-service training available
Age: 18-30, 31-54, 55+
Time Commitment: Daytime , Evening , Weekend
- Generally one visit weekly (2-4 hours) for six month renewable term
