Job summary

Burnaby Art Gallery seeks a Fine Arts Leader to support Visual Arts programming. You will assist in planning, implementing and coordinating classes, evaluate programs and help train instructors. You’ll maintain records, manage supplies and coordinate volunteers, while building strong relationships with staff, instructors, artists and community members.

The role is auxiliary with shifts based on operational needs, requiring a BC driver’s license and ability to teach across age groups.

Qualifications

• Two-year community college program in Fine Arts or equivalent.
• Teaching or instructional experience.
• Sound knowledge of Visual Arts programming and materials.
• Ability to teach varying ages with classroom management experience.
• Driver’s license for British Columbia (required).

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, implementation and coordination of Visual Arts classes.
• Evaluate current programs and recommend changes.
• Resource person to Fine Arts instructors; assist in selection, training and evaluation of instructors.
• Prepare records, promotional materials, supply inventory, equipment maintenance reporting and volunteer coordination.
• Develop effective working relationships with staff, instructors, artists, volunteers and community members.
