Job summary

Parks Canada is seeking staff at Fortress Louisbourg National Historic Site to provide visitor services and revenue collection, guiding visitors and handling payments at entrances, information centres, campgrounds, and kiosks. Duties
Visitor services and revenue collection at entrance gateways, information/visitor centres, campgrounds, kiosks and on park, historic site or marine conservation area grounds to enhance the visitor experience.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Security Screening: Obtain and maintain Reliability Status security clearance with credit check.

Nova Scotia Driver’s License, or other provincial equivalency
A valid certificate in basic First Aid or be willing to take First Aid training.

Operational Requirements

Be willing to work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial holidays when required.
Be willing to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required Wear a Parks Canada Uniform when required.
Be exposed to variable weather conditions.
Be exposed to noxious odors from car fumes, dust.
Be required to occasionally bend, crouch and lift up to 15 kg.
Frequently walking over rough terrain and climbing stairs.

A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience in interacting with the public in a reception/orientation capacity.
Experience in anticipating/meeting public needs, resolving complaints, anticipating/detecting incidents and finding solutions.
Recent experience in handling cash and operating point of sales.
Experience in helping assemble and dismantle structures and equipment related to visitor experience such as modern or 18th century period tents.

General knowledge of safety and security procedures to safeguard cash, facilities, artifacts and equipment.

Ability to work in a conscientious, consistent and effective manner and provide service excellence.
Ability to identify hazardous or potentially hazardous situations and take appropriate action to maintain a safe environment for yourself and others.
